Our domain
Roger et Didier RAIMBAULT's domaine is situated in the
Verdigny's district, right in the center of the Sancerre wine
producing area. Our family has been growing vines for ten
generations. Our 17.5 ha of vineyards are situated on the
sharp slopes of Verdigny and Sury en Vaux.
These 200 to 400 meter high hills rise in a slope of up to
40%, and offer various sun exposure and terroirs giving
authenticity and complexity to our wines.
When nature offers a treasure, we need to share it and respect it.
It would have been shame not to be a winemaker when you are born in the Sancerre region, so exceptional for Sauvignon grape.
In order to fully express the terroir, vines must be cultivated with great care, all year
round. We use simple Guyot training and we remove the buds to give greater vigor to the grapes (Ebourgeonner).
In a part of the vineyard, we work the soil to avoid herbicide use. In other parts, we grow grass to fight against erosion on steep slopes.
Reasonable fertilization, according to the parcel and depending on the strength of
the vines and the soil analysis. We treat the vines only in response to the presence or propensity of disease.
Through these different cultural methods,
we try to maintain an average vigor of the vines in order to harvest healthy and well balanced grapes.
"We cannot make a good wine with bad grapes".
We have built a 3-level underground cellar to optimize and respect the harvest with fewer mechanical operations.
When we combine passion, tradition, technique and nature, we are doing our best to make our wines,
but we remain beginners in vine and wine on every new vintage.
